Brief

We were privileged to contribute to the construction of this exceptional private residence, designed by Ponting Fitzgerald Architects and built by Dawson Construction. Spanning four levels from basement to skybox, the home features expansive open living areas, covered decks, and dramatic overhangs, all made possible by the strength and versatility of structural steel. Our role in fabricating and erecting the steel framework was essential in achieving the bold architectural vision, ensuring both structural integrity and design flexibility.

One of the most striking elements of the home is the central spiral staircase, a defining feature that transforms a functional necessity into an architectural centerpiece. Steel played a crucial role in its construction, allowing each component to be precisely fabricated and welded together for a seamless, uninterrupted aesthetic. This approach eliminated the need for visible fasteners and resulted in a sleek, sculptural form that enhances the overall design. Beyond its visual appeal, the solid steel staircase also provided a safe and stable accessway for trades throughout the build, improving efficiency on-site.

In addition to the primary structure, we provided temporary steelwork to support lifting and positioning of stair treads, balustrade panels, and other key elements during construction. Collaborating with Dawson Construction, McNaughton Consulting Engineers, and Xtreme Drafting PTY Ltd, we ensured the steel elements met the highest standards of precision and quality. This project exemplifies how structural steel can push the boundaries of design while delivering strength, safety, and long-term durability..
